About
- Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences is a medical institution founded in 2002 by the Madras Medical Mission.
- The institute is comprised of two colleges namely Medical College & Nursing College.

Admission Process
For PIMS Pondicherry MBBS Admission:
- For MBBS admissions, candidates have to appear for NEET UG exam conducted by CBSE.
- Candidates will then be shortlisted on the basis of marks secured in NEET UG exam.
- Selected candidates have to appear for a counselling session.
- Final admissions will be based on the merit in the NEET UG exam, followed by the marks secured in counselling process, seat allotment, verification of documents, and fee payment.
- SC/ST candidates will be given a relaxation of 5% in comparison to General category candidates.
For PIMS Pondicherry Nursing Admission:
- For Nursing UG and PG admissions, candidates have to appear for Central Admission Committee (CENTAC) entrance examination to be eligible to apply for admission. Admissions will be based on the basis of qualifying marks in CENTAC entrance examination.
For PIMS Pondicherry MD and MS Admission:
- For MD and MS admissions, candidates must hold a graduate degree in MBBS from any recognized university. Eligible candidates will then have to appear for NEET PG exam conducted by the National Board of Education (NBE).

Cultural programs
Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences conducts various extra-curricular activities. Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences organizes cultural fests every year managed by the students. Some of the fests conducted by the college are:
- Aura- It is an annual cultural event of literature, sports and medical festival. The events that take place in this festival are dance, music, movie quiz, block and tackle, dumb charades, mehendi design competition, face painting, collage making, rangoli competition, creative writing, eating contest, photography contest, etc.
- L’Auro- It is a rock show festival. It includes a competition of rock bands.
PIMS infrastructure and facilities
The campus of PIMS is spread over an area of 32 acres. The infrastructure is surrounded by lush greenery and a magnificent view of the Coromandel Coast. The institute has an excellent art structure with hi-tech facilities available for the students. Facilities provided by PIMS:

The campus has a 560 bedded teaching hospital with an area of nearly 7.5 lakh square feet. The hospital is supported with various facilities for patients.

There is a colossal auditorium for cultural events and festival celebrations holding a capacity of accommodating 700 people.
